The revenue from the sale of your car, boat or other vehicle donation, through Goodwill's weekly public auction, will help Goodwill transform the lives of individuals with disabilities and other obstacles to employment - by helping them prepare for and find jobs. For over 80 years, Goodwill of Central Virginia (formerly Richmond Goodwill Industries) has reached out to individuals in our local community - helping them learn new skills and prepare for a better life. Make a difference today by donating your vehicle! Goodwill will even pick it up for free. And, you may be eligible for a tax deduction. It's easy and convenient! Your request will be handled promptly, and your donation will be safely delivered to the Goodwill main facility by one of our partner towing companies.

Please note that we are now recquired by the IRS to obtain your social security or tax identification number to include in an acknowledgement. This web page is secure, however, if you are not comfortable providing this information online, you can provide it to our auction staff over the phone.

If your vehicle was donated to a qualified organization after December 31, 2004, your deduction is limited to the gross proceeds from its sale by the organization. This rule applies if the claimed value of the donated vehicle is more than $500. These rules also apply to donations of boats. If the claimed value of the car is more than $500, you must have a written acknowledgement of your donation from the organization and must attach it to your return. If you do not have an acknowledgement, you cannot deduct your contribution. An acknowledgement is provided by Goodwill of Central Virginia within 30 days of the sale of the car.
