Financial Donations
Every time you donate to Goodwill, you help someone find a job. Last year, Goodwill of Central Virginia collected over 20 million pounds of donations across the Richmond, Ashland and Tri-Cities area, including clothing, small appliances and furniture. The revenue from the sale of donated items in Goodwill stores and auctions fund programs for people in need of job training and other support services, allowing them to achieve workplace success.
At Goodwill, over 86 percent of our revenues go directly into education and training programs for people with disabilities and disadvantages, and as an organization, we are consistently ranked among the top charities for putting your donations and dollars to work! It is the generous support from the Central Virginia community that makes our organization run.
There are so many different ways that you can support the vital work of Goodwill, whether it is through the donation of gently used clothing and household items; business donations such as unclaimed merchandise, closeouts, surplus, seasonal goods, or scratch and dent items; the donation of a no longer needed automobile ; or through a financial gift. Your donations are tax deductible too!
Program participants process donated goods for resale, which teaches valuable job skills.
As these individuals are empowered, they cease to be recipients of tax dollars and become tax-payers. The business community, in turn, receives a steady stream of motivated workers, trained in fields where job openings exist.
